Like her Grandma, Elaina loves cameras. The other day, the thought occurred to me that our old digital camera was just sitting in a closet.
Was I worried she’d break it? Sure. But really, I wasn’t going to use it, it’s not worth anything anymore. So, someone may as well get some good out of it. Plus, it was a chance to teach her to take care of something. She hasn’t been perfect, but she’s been pretty good, really.
She takes her work quite seriously. And she’s pretty careful with the camera.
You feel a little like you’re in a photo shoot when she’s following you around with her camera going—FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! Brings back memories of my boy-band days.
The nice thing is, since it’s digital, she can shoot and shoot and shoot…and that’s exactly what she’s done.
Here’s a selection of the best of around 500 shots Elaina has taken. She has a nice pic of Duck, one of Olyvia, and some of Nadia (who should be dubbed “Nadia the Enduring”—she puts up with so much from Elaina. It’s not easy for a cat to be loved so much by someone so small and so enthusiastic.)

How cool is it to see the world through her eyes and to have her capture what's important and interesting to her right now! Not to mention she's learning some skills while she is playing.
