First Storm Weathered

It's heartbreaking to have your daughter wake up, sad and afraid and angry because the parents she knows are suddenly gone.

Ultimately, it was only 28 minutes, but it was a pretty rotten 28 minutes. Heidi was great. It was Heidi who thought to put Elaina on her back, which let her calm down. Heidi walked her around while we spoke all the Korean we knew (which isn't much), to try to calm her. It seemed like a long time, but it was only 28 minutes from awake to calm.

Once she'd calmed, it was time for her bottle, but she got upset when Heidi tried to put her down. So, she ate a few corn puffs, looked out the window, and looked at us--well, at me and and Heidi's hair. I was feeding her corn puffs while she was on Heidi's back.... She has these tiny, delicate hands to take a puff from you, and she takes three bites to eat a puff--maybe because she has only four teeth, maybe because she's a lady.

She's been calm since, but she doesn't want to be put down; that is, doesn't want to leave her place on Heidi's back. She's fallen asleep again. I guess each storm will be gentler.
